Yet another background for my final project.
As you can see, it's one of the classes of the school. By night. Scary.
The game is set on the 1940s but this class is clearly modern. That's because i couldn't find a good reference for old school tables and chairs. Anyway you get the idea.

Oh, and in a lot of countries' schools I'd expect to see a national flag or picture of the president/king/premier/etc. on the wall near the chalkboard, and maybe a poster. Classrooms tend to encourage patriotism in any case, and World War II would have made it more imperative.
...But I guess the drawback would be if you don't want the game to be set in a particular country, so players from different nations could feel like it's home. Depends on what you have in mind.
Just make sure that if you use a flag, you get the right one for the time; the US flag, for example, had two fewer stars (no Hawai'i or Alaska yet) and the rows of stars were arranged differently
Meanwhile, the cross implies that this is a church-run school, probably a Catholic one. If so, I'd expect the cross to have been bigger and more centered in the wall space. Or, if it's not a primarily religious school, I'd remove the cross; it might be accurate but would confuse viewers.
